How We Love & Support

How do we love and support dbKids with special needs, disabilities, and sociocultural struggles?

Give Space

Give Space: Allowing Children to express their emotions in a safe, non-judgmental way.

Resource Basket

Resource Basket: In each classroom we provide different sensory fidget tools, headphones, and communication boards to assist children who are struggling to communicate or who need minimal sensory support.

Connection

Connection: Sometimes, all a child needs is a comforting hug or a high-five to feel reassured and connected. Higs and high fives can offer the emotional support they crave when words feel hard to find.

Environment: When the classroom environment becomes overstimulating, sensory breaks are essential. Utilizing spaces like Room 10 (Resource Room) provides a peaceful, controlled environment where children can feel safe and grounded.

Breaks

Breaks: Whether it’s a lap around dbKids or a quiet moment to reset, this helps them regain their sense of calm and focus.

Loving and supporting dbKIDS who are struggling requires patience, empathy, and intentional care. By recognizing each child’s unique needs and offering these thoughtful supports, we foster a sense of security and belonging, helping them to thrive even in moments of struggle.

If your family is impacted by a child with special needs, disabilities, or sociocultural challenges, reach out to us—we’d love to connect and offer support.
