We read in Isaiah 44 that God told the prophet Isaiah to tell His people that their idols were worthless. The people looked to them for help, but only God could save them from their sin. God alone is worthy of our worship, and we too can turn from our idols and worship Jesus!

God made Saul king, but King Saul did not obey God. God sent His Son, Jesus, to be King over everything. King Jesus obeyed God perfectly, even to death, for our forgiveness and salvation.

God chose Saul to be the Israelite’s king - and with His help, Saul brought the Israelites together to defeat their enemy. Similarly, God sent us His own son, our eternal king Jesus. Jesus brings together everyone who trusts in Him to have victory over sin & death!

In this series, we will talk about why sin separates us from God. In 1 Samuel, we learn that the Israelites didn’t trust God’s plan for a heavenly king to rule over them. Instead, they wanted a king like the other nations around them. Thank you God for having a better plan to send Jesus to be the perfect King forever!
